Challenge your place of work

Employees across Nottinghamshire are gearing up for Shape Up Notts! Workplace Challenge – a free, easy and fun campaign designed to help businesses reap the rewards of a fit and healthy workforce.

There is now strong evidence that being active regularly can help to keep our bodies fit and our brains sharp. The financial benefits of fostering an active culture in the workplace also speak for themselves: reduced absenteeism, increased motivation and increased productivity.

The big challenge kicks off on June 20th 2010 with participants having until October 31st to join in with some ‘healthy’ competition. Record your activity during this period on the web site with the aim of reaching the top of the workplace leader board.

At the end of the challenge, prizes will be awarded to businesses and individuals who have excelled in their category.

Not only is the Challenge a fun and practical way of encouraging your workforce to get more active, the prospect of increased activity is a natural catalyst to getting out and about more, by opting to cycle or walk more, rather than relying on the car. Your carbon emissions will be reduced and you’ll be keeping active too! You’ll also be making a direct and valuable contribution to reducing local road congestion by swapping travelling by car for walking and cycling.

The Challenge is aimed at everyone and there are so many activities to try – anything from a gentle stroll to a more rigorous spinning class – the world is your oyster!

Sign up now and watch how small steps can make a huge step-change to the environment, your health and your fitness.
